N MANY INSTANCES the needs of a modern clinical laboratory are not completely satisfied through the usual commercial outlets. The item desired may be completely unavailable; it may be outside the budgetary limits of the laboratory; or a commercially available item may be unsatisfactory for the particular and peculiar needs of a clinical laboratory. The following discussion of clinical laboratory aids developed in our laboratory shall be confined within this frame of reference. It is the hope of the authors that this information not only will be useful to other laboratories but also will serve as a stimulus for improving or enlarging the work reported.
